Mathematics Teacher Full/Part Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding teacher to join our thriving, successful school to teach Maths to A level. We are seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic and dynamic teacher to join this forward looking, exceptional department.

We are looking for a candidate, with an infectious passion for Maths who is ambitious for the department, who can teach with enthusiasm and integrity and who is ready to work with bright, highly engaged girls.

Maths is an extremely popular subject at A level and many of our students go on to study Maths and Physics related subjects at top universities. The ability or potential to teach Further Mathematics to A Level and assist with the preparation of Oxbridge candidates would be an advantage as would the ability to teach Step. Previous experience in the independent sector is not required and we welcome NQT applications.

English Teacher

Start date: September 2018; Permanent; Competitive Salary and Benefits

Applications are invited from exciting, enthusiastic teachers to teach English from KS3 to A Level students and ideally Oxbridge candidates.

Our English department is a highly successful, dynamic and fun department and this position offers the opportunity to work with bright, engaged and sparky pupils. The successful candidate will be motivated to develop the English department’s high standards by excellent, innovative teaching and will possess a commitment to co-curricular activities to spread the vibrancy of English beyond the walls of the classroom. Head of Design Technology (DT) and Engineering

Start date: September 2018; Permanent; Full Time; Competitive Salary and Benefits

Wimbledon High School aspires to be a leading school in DT and Engineering and this is an opportunity to be at the forefront of these developments and raise the profile of this vital subject for 21st century learning.

As Head of DT and Engineering, you will lead and inspire the department to deliver a high quality academic experience to the students in a safe, well-resourced and well-looked after environment. This will include playing a key role in department development plans, leading by example through excellent teaching and promoting engineering from primary level upwards as a people-focused, problem-solving and socially beneficial discipline. Furthermore, there will be opportunities to develop the provision of co-curricular activities in DT and Engineering and strengthen the links to STEAM subjects/projects.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we embark on Project Ex Humilibus, which will see, within a three-year time frame, the building of a STEAM tower with state of the art facilities. Our innovative DT and Engineering Department is all about teaching our students to approach real world problems with an open and enquiring mind. Our students are very enthusiastic and keen to learn and some of them have recently been involved in a design project with the University of Cambridge, whilst a design from one student will soon appear in an NHS clinic. We have also had two recent finalists in the Young Fashion Designer UK competitions.

Experience as a subject teacher covering KS3-5 is essential, along with teaching A level, AS and GCSE in DT (in particular Product Design, Resistant Materials or similar) as is the ability to lead and manage a team and enthuse and engage staff and students. If you are an ambitious and engaging individual who can share their passion for DT and Engineering to build on the successes of the department, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Assistant Director of Music

Start date September 2018; Full time; Permanent; Competitive salary and benefits

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Music teacher to join a thriving Music Department and play a key role inspiring our students to enjoy making music and relish the performance opportunities available to them.

As the Assistant Director of Music, you will work alongside the Director of Music in promoting the academic and co-curricular aspects of the Music Department across the School. You will also teach across KS3-5, with a willingness to teach the occasional KS2 lesson, delivering excellent musical lessons across the age range, encouraging our girls to focus on the key skills of analysis and evaluation alongside the practical skills of composition and performance.

You will be joining a department that is academically strong, with excellent GCSE and A Level results achieved over the last four years and many of our pupils having gone on to read music at university. The Department is attached to the Rutherford performing arts centre and offers two large music classrooms, both fully equipped with two suites of MacBook Pros running Sibelius 7, as well as seven practice rooms used for peripatetic instrumental teaching. The Department has recently undergone refurbishment with two new classroom sound systems, a recording studio being installed to the A Level classroom and sound bars being installed in each of the practice rooms.

If you are an outstanding musician with excellent subject knowledge and experience of planning and teaching KS3-5, we would be delighted to hear from you. (We would also be interested in hearing from candidates who aspire to develop into this role within six to twelve months).
