Governors

Bridget Rosewell (Chair) is a leading economist and former pupil. She is Chairman of economics consultancy Volterra, which she founded in 1999 and which offers innovative solutions to business and policy problems. She is also Chief Economic Adviser to the Greater London Authority. She studied and taught economics at Oxford University in her early career.  She is committed to ensuring the school continues to raise its standards across every aspect of school life and that future pupils are as proud of their time here as she is.  

Belinda Canham is Headmistress of Gatehouse School, an independent co-educational prep school of 320 pupils.  She is an inspector for the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate and a Governor of Newland House School and Lansbury Laurence Primary School.  She is also a magistrate.

Ingrid Facius is Principal Business Change Manager within the technology division of ITV plc. She is a professional facilitator who works with organisations on swifter, more efficient decision making and a tutor of leadership and change on the Ashridge MBA programme. Ingrid is a local mum to an aspiring 2013 WHS pupil.

Judith Freedman is Professor of Taxation Law at Oxford University and a Fellow and member of the Governing Body of Worcester College, Oxford.   She has worked as an academic lawyer for nearly 30 years in universities including the LSE and Oxford.  Prior to that she was a solicitor at Freshfields, a leading City firm. She has published widely on tax law and policy and on corporate law. Her family home is in Wimbledon and her daughter was a pupil at both the Junior and Senior schools at WHS.

John Hitchins is a Chartered Accountant and a partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers where he specialises in services to the banking industry. He is a local resident and his daughter was a pupil at WHS from 1993 to 2006. He is also a governor of Tonbridge School.
 

Peter Scott is a retired Headmaster of Bancroft’s School, North London having previously been Deputy Head at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford and Director of Studies at Charterhouse.  He holds a PhD in Chemistry from St John’s College, Oxford.  With many years experience as an ISI inspector, he is now Governor at several independent and state schools.

Susan Sturrock has recently retired as Director of Communications at the Royal College of Music.  Her lifelong involvement in professional music gives her a special interest in the performing arts.  A Wimbledon resident, and mother of a former WHS pupil, she has been a Governor since 2004.

 

Derek Tocher is Pro Provost for East and South East Asia at University College London and has lived in the local area for 25 years. As Departmental Tutor in Chemistry at UCL he is responsible for the academic progression and pastoral care of 270 undergraduate students and he has nine years' experience in university admissions.

Grenville Williams is retired; at PricewaterhouseCoopers he was responsible for a range of services including internal management consultancy. He previously worked for the BBC, largely as an internal management consultant, but also working on science-based television programmes including Tomorrow's World and Horizon, where he co-produced an award-winning documentary on the naval lessons of the Falklands War. Two of his daughters attended WHS.
