Junior School Admissions

Junior School (4-11 years) Admissions

The main points of entry are at 4+ and 7+. Occasional vacancies may arise in other years.

Applications have now closed for entry in September 2010; offer letters have been sent out.

Reception entry 2011
Assessments for 4+, to join in Reception, will take place in November 2010 (round 1). Round 2, for those who successfully get through round 1, will take place in January 2011.

At 4+ we are looking for the potential rather than what has already been learnt. The assessment covers language and social skills, mathematics, physical and creative skills, as well as understanding of the world. The assessments are held in a nursery-style environment, with activities designed to enable the child to relax and act naturally.

Year 3 entry 2011
Assessments for 7+, to join in Year 3, take place in December 2010.
They are held in a formal setting and cover three areas of learning:
English: comprehension and creative writing
Mathematics: based on the work required for Key Stage 1 SATs taken at the end of Year 2
Non-Verbal Reasoning Test: involving the ability to recognise patterns, display spatial understanding and cognitive ability

Transfer to the Senior School
In Year 6 almost all of our Junior pupils transfer to the Senior School, having followed the admissions procedure along with all external candidates.

Please contact the Junior Admissions Secretary for further information.
