Senior English

Senior students have written, illustrated and published five children's books specifically for Ghanaian children.

Working through the charity Akenkan, set up by Head of English Miss Pett, the girls have produced five beautifully illustrated stories that have been thoughtfully researched, in collaboration with school teachers in Ghana, so that they are culturally appropriate and really speak to the children there.

It's been a two-year project in the making, made possible by fund-raising by the WHS girls throughout. The Year 11 & 12 girls were delighted to unpack the boxes of books when the books  arrived this week. They have been busily selling them and are now excited to be heading to meet the school children in Ghana whom they have heard so much about and to share their stories with them. See the video below and look out for the books, which will we hope feature in a bookstore near you soon!
