Whole School STEAM

Teachers from a number of GDST schools around the UK visited Wimbledon High on Thursday 17th May for a Junior CPD day focused around making the most of STEAM in the classroom...

The day kicked off with an inspiring presentation from our very own Scientists in Residence, Alex Farrer and Jon Mayland, who discussed the vast amount of activities and resources that WHS Juniors have been exposed to since the launch of our new STEAM space in September. Alex gave a range of examples of how cross-curricular learning that implements STEAM is becoming more and more popular throughout the school and how building on skills such as resilience, team-work and communication has been a significant outcome.

A huge thank you goes to Sally (Streatham and Clapham High School) for discussing the Science Capital project, James (SAM Labs Education) for emphasising the importance of implementing Engineering and Coding into the STEAM agenda and to  Liz from Microsoft Education for coming in to show our teachers a broad range of STEAM inspired resources...
