As part of our aim to widen student horizons and encourage debate, we run a series of evening lectures throughout the school year. Named after our Chair of Governors, Bridget Rosewell, the Rosewell lectures are designed for students in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13, offering a forum where topical ideas and academic thinking are debated. Parents and guardians of any year group are also welcome.

Catherine Hawrylowicz, Professor of Immune Regulation in Allergic Disease at King’s College, London.
As the team leader of the world recognised Asthma Centre which is jointly based at KCL and Imperial College, Ms Hawrylowicz gave a talk on The Science of Asthma that took us through an outline of the history, causes and problems of this widespread disease.

Internationally acclaimed artists Vong Phaophanit and Claire Oboussier spoke on What do Artists have to give? We heard how Art developed through the 19th & 20th Centuries and their belief in the importance of multi-sensory engagement.

Dr David S. Berman explored the foundation of theoretical physics; the idea of Unity. After a tour through the ground breaking ideas of the 20th century; quantum mechanics and relativity, we learnt how the idea of Unity brings about string theory. This is the cutting edge of current research in theoretical physics with ideas of hidden extra dimensions, quantum gravity and much more.
