Senior School (11 - 18 years) Admissions

We welcome prospective parents and students to visit the school - on Wednesday mornings by appointment throughout the autumn and spring terms. 

The closing date for applications for entry into Year 7 in September 2011 is 26 November 2010. Occasional vacancies may sometimes arise in other years of the Senior School, with tests generally held towards the end of each term or by arrangement - please contact the Senior Admissions Secretary for further details.

We aim to interview all applicants during the course of the Autumn Term. However just after the deadline for registration in November, scheduling these interviews becomes more difficult and occasionally we are not able to organise an interview. We therefore urge you not to leave your application to the last minute. 

Interviews take place on Wednesday mornings, when parents and girls see the school on a normal school day and attend a talk by the Headmistress. We try to give as much notice to families as possible, but do contact the Senior Admissions Secretary if a given date is inconvenient.

The entrance examination for all applicants, including our own Junior School pupils, follows in January. It includes:

English - the paper is in two parts: creative writing and comprehension
Mathematics - along with many short-answer, single mark questions there are also more complex problem-solving questions
Verbal Reasoning - we recommend that all applicants familiarise themselves with this style of examination, by practising a few papers in advance of the exam date. Copies of such papers can be purchased at any branch of WHSmiths.

In the Maths and English exams  we expect the girls to achieve a good Level 5 National Curriculum standard
