  • Rowing Coach (Self-employed)

    This is an opportunity for a self-employed Rowing Coach to play a key role supporting the running of a hugely ambitious, thriving and motivated Boat Club at one of London’s top day schools.

    Rowing is a popular sport at Wimbledon High School, with Wimbledon High School Boat Club a key part of the school community and the community on the river!

    The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of the sport with successful experience of coaching rowing and ideally, of rowing at a high-performance level.

    Hours will vary, but the successful candidate must be available for our Easter Camp in Italy from 12th April  – 19th April 2025.  Coaching rates are competitive.

    The role:

    This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join Wimbledon High, and help to lead our school into its next chapter. As Deputy Head (Pastoral & Designated Safeguarding Lead) you would already be an exceptional and ambitious leader, looking to become a member of an energetic, close-knit and visionary Senior Leadership and Management Team who find themselves fortunate enough to work with some of the most committed educators in the country and a student body of engaged, scholarly and grounded girls and young women.

    As a member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership in all matters relating to pastoral care, safeguarding, and student wellbeing, ensuring that Wimbledon High School remains at the forefront of pastoral innovation.

    You will assume overall responsibility for the pastoral system and structure, striving to make sure it is proactive, student-centred, and effectively supports wellbeing. To achieve this, you will:

    • Develop and implement the school’s strategic vision for pastoral care
    • Maintain and refine the school’s policies related to behaviour, discipline, attendance, and safeguarding
    • Chair our Safeguarding Core Team, implementing safeguarding policies whilst maintaining full compliance with statutory requirements and GDST expectations
    • Oversee our GROW (PSHE) curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant, impactful, and engaging

    To succeed in this role, you will be a strong and visionary leader with a proven track record in pastoral care and safeguarding. You will possess extensive experience within a pastoral leadership role (ideally at a senior level) and will demonstrate a deep understanding of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and best practices. Additional experience of managing complex pastoral cases and working with external agencies, as well as experience of leading whole-school cultural change in pastoral care is essential.

    To achieve this, you will:

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s Strategic Development Plan
    • Lead policy development and implementation in academic areas to meet the school’s developing needs
    • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning in each classroom are maintained and that new pedagogical developments are explored
    • Contribute to the development of our innovative, bespoke and inspiring Continuing Professional Development programme across both the Senior and Junior school

    Your work will help to ensure Wimbledon’s academic provision remains at the forefront of girls’ education, whilst cultivating a curriculum that harnesses our students’ intellectual curiosity and natural capabilities, equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

    You will be a strong and visionary leader with a proven track record in academic leadership in schools and a demonstrable passion for scholarship, learning and academia. You will possess extensive experience within an academic leadership role (ideally at a senior level), along with experience of leading whole-school cultural change in academic delivery. In addition to this, you will demonstrate a deep understanding of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and best practices, as well as knowledge of education technology and innovation.
