Sustainability

Our students have enquiring minds and are passionate about global issues, understanding the urgency of the climate crisis. In common with young people across the globe, they are rightly demanding action.

We have worked collectively, as staff and students, to become more sustainable as a community. In acknowledgement of the importance of our environment for our wellbeing, we like to quote bel hooks, from belonging: “When we love the Earth, we are able to love ourselves more fully.”

In September 2022, we published the first iteration of Project Ever Green, our ten strategic priorities on our journey towards being net zero before the GDST’s target date of 2050. In September 2023 we followed up with status report on our progress. You can read both below:

Project Evergreen: Eco Strategy 2022

We are one

The GDST One sustainability strategy was founded on the idea that as a family of schools we are stronger together and can act as a united community to create a more sustainable world. In June 2023, Year 6 students from Wimbledon High and across the GDST came together at Wimbledon High School to engage with nature and shared their thoughts and hopes for a greener future.
