STEM Challenge Award Winners

Great news on STEM this week, as we learnt that WHS students had won awards in four categories in Sydenham High's #700STEMChallenge. Read more in the magazine linked below...

Lara K. Year 7 (1st Prize: Under 14 Results for Technology & Engineering) - 'Wind Turbine Rap' 

Elena G. Year 12 (2nd Prize: Under 18 Results for Mathematics) - 'Journey of the number zero' 

Julia G. Year 11 (3rd Prize: Under 16 Results for Science) - 'The Periodic Table'

Samah M. Year 10 (3rd Prize: Under 16 Results for Science) - 'Has the film industry accurately portrayed space?' 
 

"After I wrote a rap as part of a class assignment, Ms Nicholas suggested that I enter it to the #700STEM Competition which I learned after submitting it that the competition was meant for essays! It was to my delight and surprise that I'd won the 'Technology & Engineering' category for the Under 14's. As well as being able to attend an awards night with talks from people with jobs in the STEM sector, I won a book all about science, model aeroplanes (collectors edition) and a trophy. The evening was very interesting and it was a privilege to go!"
