Just before the half term break, our WHS Year 5 girls joined forces with Year 5 from West Wimbledon Primary School for a Choral and Ceilidh Morning, delivered by Miss Jones and Mr Hill. It was a marvellous morning of music and movement in which the children learned about the cultural context of ceilidhs and learned some simple dance moves, before attending their very own WHS and West Wimbledon ceilidh!

We learned three dances for our ceilidh: The Virginia Reel, Dashing White Sargeant and The Flying Scotsman, all accompanied by flute, guitar and stomp box. There was some excellent collaboration between the schools and some excellent commitment learning so many new steps! In between all the dancing, the group also rehearsed and sang two songs: Skye Boat Song and Londonderry Air (Danny Boy).

Much fun was had by all and we hope to see West Wimbledon again soon!
