Congratulations to the Class of 2025 for a stellar set of A level results this year, resulting in them successfully securing places at their chosen universities or art and drama colleges. 15 students head to Oxford and Cambridge, one to Central School of Drama and Music and a number to courses with an accredited year in industry. Eight will study medicine or veterinary science, and the rest to a vast array of degree courses across the UK, from Politics, Philosophy and Economics to Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic Studies, Astrophysics to Chinese Studies and Computer Science.
Fionnuala Kennedy, Head of Wimbledon High School GDST, said:
“These outstanding collective grades represent significant individual achievements, talent and hard work, and we could not be prouder of the Class of 2025 .Not only do these outcomes reflect the sharp intellects and curious minds of these students, but also the commitment and focus they show to their studies. What’s more, they have come through the process with a sense of calm maturity, supporting each other, looking after themselves, and tackling each challenge head-on. They’ve done all of this whilst remaining dedicated to the community that is Wimbledon High, balancing academia with myriad other commitments, like rowing at GB level, taking lead roles in school musicals and leading the school from the front. It is absolutely the case that this generation is brimming with talented, compassionate young people, and these young women are at the forefront of that generation. We wish them all the very best as they stride out into their futures, and thank the teachers and pastoral tutors who have inspired and supported them”.
Maths is top A level subject at WHS
In a school where more than half of Sixth Formers study Maths or Further Maths at A level (47/90 students in this year’s cohort), it is a delight but not a surprise that the Class of 2025 achieved an astonishing 91% A- A* in Maths, with 9 of those students also achieving an A or A* in Further Maths and 5 achieving the top grade A in AS Further Maths.

“I am so pleased for our students. Achieving these grades in A Level Maths is truly life-changing — not just for now, but for the ever-evolving future our girls face. I feel incredibly fortunate to be supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic team of Mathematicians who serve as powerful role models for these young women.”
Oxbridge success
Former Head Girl Emma Hamilton truly embodies the Wimbledonian spirit. Throughout her time at Sixth Form, Emma has skillfully balanced Head Girl responsibilities with starring roles in all major school drama productions, as well as successfully applying to Oxbridge. We thank her for her contribution to the school and wish her well as she pursues her studies in History and French at Oxford.
Emma is one of 15 of our 2025 cohort who have gained places at Oxford and Cambridge this year.
Eight students are going to Oxford to study a wide range of subjects, including Chinese, Computer Science, Classics with Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, Geography, History and French, Medicine, Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) and Spanish and Linguistics.
And the rest head off to Cambridge University to study Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic, Computer Science and Maths, Law, History, History of Art and Natural Sciences.
Congratulations especially to those who have gained places on particularly competitive courses.
