As part of the school’s ongoing Futures Programme, students from Years 9–13 attended the latest Careers Conversation breakfast panel on Wednesday 11 February. This session centred on careers in Law. The event brought together an impressive line-up of legal professionals representing a wide span of experience and career paths, offering students an authentic window into the realities of building a career in law.

The panel shared insights about university choices, alternative pathways such as apprenticeships, the realities of legal work, and the skills and qualities that help young people stand out. The session highlighted that there is no single path into law and encouraged students to explore a wide range of opportunities aligned with their strengths and interests. From apprenticeships and corporate placements to training within law firms, each panellist shared a unique perspective shaped by their own professional journey.
The discussion emphasised the value of curiosity, commitment, and initiative. Whether through extracurricular activities, leadership roles, language skills, or volunteering, the panel underscored the importance of building a strong personal profile that demonstrates drive and a global mindset. Students were also encouraged to research law firms thoroughly, understand the differences between firm types, and use tools like LinkedIn and AI responsibly as part of their professional development.
Panellists emphasised the breadth of opportunity within the legal field and encouraged students to pursue what they genuinely enjoy—while maintaining the resilience, work ethic, and initiative that the legal profession demands.
