Students, parents and Wimbledon High staff gathered today to collect what proved to be an impressive set of GCSE results, with girls achieving top marks across the full gamut of subjects, with particularly strong performances in languages, Maths and the Arts.
Head Fionnuala Kennedy said:
“How wonderful to welcome so many students and their families back to school and to see the pride they feel in having achieved such excellent results, particularly in some of the smaller subjects, such as the many languages – ancient and modern – which are thriving at Wimbledon High School, alongside Maths, Science and the Arts.
“The fact that more than two thirds of grades overall are what used to be an A* is testament to these students’ hard work and dedication. We are looking forward to welcoming this cohort into Sixth Form early next month, together with a number joining us from other schools. Looking at their A level choices, it’s clear we have a strong representation across all disciplines, ready to embrace the independence and challenge of the next stage of their education.”
