Faraday Day

For this year's Faraday Day Challenge, Y4 pupils were tasked with designing a prototype for an innovative escape system from the London Eye!

On Tuesday 28 April, Year 4 pupils took part in the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s Primary Faraday Challenge Day, an exciting, hands-on engineering competition.

Working in teams, the pupils were tasked with designing a prototype for an innovative escape system that could safely transport passengers from the London Eye to the ground in the event of a power failure. The challenge required them to think carefully about teamwork, problem solving and safety, as they considered questions such as how their device would communicate with the ground and what materials might be available inside the capsule.

Each pupil took on a specific role within their team and, after completing their apprenticeship, worked collaboratively through the planning, building and testing stages of their designs.

The day concluded with Team 6 being awarded the winning trophy, having demonstrated great perseverance, adaptability and strong problem-solving skills throughout the challenge. Congratulations to Heather, Kiki, Nataliia, Xixi and Claire on their well-deserved success.
