German linguists collaborate in new Charter initiative

In recent years, we’ve been used to collaborating with King’s College School and others on pastoral matters, as part of The Charter, our initiative to foster positive relationships and encourage the voices of young people to be heard. We’ve also seen the partnership develop into the field of sport.

In a first, however, a recent study day centering on Durrenmatt’s ‘Der Besuch der alten Dame’ took this collaboration into an academic space. German linguists from King’s and Wimbledon High School, who all study this text for their A level course, took the learning from their analytical and enlightening workshops led by Dr Aysha Strachan last term, to create posters to illustrate the play.

The resulting Charter Poster Competition was hotly contested and we were thrilled that Emilia, Year 13, emerged the winner, thanks to an inventive poster where she portrayed the main character as a hero.
