On Wednesday 22 April, pupils across the Junior School took part in the Grow to Go Green Eco Morning to mark Earth Day.
The morning began with an active travel survey, where pupils shared how they travelled to school. Classes recorded the number of pupils using sustainable methods such as walking, scooting, cycling or public transport.
All pupils attended an eco assembly in the Junior Hall, bringing the school together to reflect on environmental themes and the importance of sustainable choices.
Throughout the morning, all year groups took part in planting activities. Reception and Year 1 planted in their classrooms, while Years 2–6 planted outside using pots they had prepared earlier in the day.
Pupils also visited the school allotment, guided by Eco Representatives, who explained what has been planted so far and what is planned for the summer term. The Eco Representatives also delivered presentations to their classes, supported by staff where needed.
Year 6 pupils also took part in a Green Careers workshop, led by visiting speakers Sam Stobart and Kanika Sharma, who spoke about careers linked to sustainability and the importance of environmental responsibility in the workplace.
Another activity was the Hidden Nature Challenge, where pupils worked in pairs to explore an area of the school grounds and complete observational tasks.
