Paralympian Emma Wiggs MBE visits Y2 and Y4 • Wimbledon High School GDST

Years 2 and 4 had a very exciting visit from Paralympian Emma Wiggs MBE on 1 October.

Emma is a 3x Paralympic Champion and 12x World Champion in paracanoeing, recently winning Gold and Silver medals at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. The girls learnt about Emma’s career and training regime (8am – 4pm, 6 days a week, 49 weeks a year!) and the ABCs of how to unleash your potential – positive attitude, having belief in yourself and courage. Your potential doesn’t have to be in sport… it can be in drama, or art, or writing, or singing, or anything else!

Emma also brought in lots of interesting items for pupils to look at, including her Paralympic medals, Team GB Paralympic kit, and toy mascots from different Paralympic games. The girls got to hold each of the medals at the end of the session; everyone was surprised at how heavy they were!
