Spellbinding visit from author Ross Welford

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 had a spellbinding visit yesterday from author and magician Ross Welford. Pupils were introduced to the Library of the Imagination, learnt how he comes up with his ideas (and given some brilliant tips on how to write stories of their own!), and witnessed some truly mesmerising magic tricks.

After the talk, Ross answered some great questions asked by the girls, including: ‘Do you ever feel like you have run out of stories?’ and ‘How do you manage to get your ideas down on paper?’, before sitting down to be interviewed by Year 6 News Film Club members, who are creating a Newsround-style video to be shared at the end of term.

As well as the mind bending tricks, Ross left a little more magic as he finished his visit. He told the Upper Juniors that the best thing they could possibly do was to go home, not turn on the TV or play video games but to instead pick up a book as your imagination is the greatest gift you have and reading is the best way to feed your imagination. Excellent advice!
