On Wednesday 4 March, five Year 5 girls embarked on a visit to the Royal Institute of Science in Mayfair for this year’s GDST Science Day.
With girls from other GDST schools, they took part in workshops extracting their own DNA; designing a crash ‘forces’ car; witnessing what happens to various objects when submerged in liquid nitrogen; and taking part in a science history treasure hunt. They were also able to wander around the Royal Institute, seeing the many significant paintings and the historic laboratory of Michael Faraday.
The experiments became significantly messier as the day went on, with the girls thoroughly enjoying themselves and realising that science is really good fun!
