As part of our Partnerships, we work on a cultural exchange programme with a Kenyan school located in Majimoto, on the outskirts of the Masai Mara game reserve.
The school caters for the local Masai children, started by the local Masai community in 2002 to help with the literacy and numeracy shortfall among children in the area. Wimbledon High has been participating in a successful partnerships programme with the school for over a year, in which girls in Year 11 and Sixth Form have been delivering English lessons through Teams.
With the older girls now away on study leave, we are delighted to be able to include our Year 6 pupils in this exciting partnership! On Tuesday, the girls were so excited to meet their new online friends and introduce themselves, speaking about what they study, their favourite hobbies, and mentioning The Queen's Jubilee celebrations. They are looking forward to seeing them online again next week to ask their Kenyan counterparts more questions!
