Senior Art & Design

The Year 9 students were asked to create a piece of artwork that would make the viewer stop and think. Their aim was to build awareness about the impact of modes of transport on climate change and the environment.

A few examples below:

Above by Harriet H - "My concept behind this piece is that flying has serious environmental consequences for our planet and, more specifically, the ice caps."

Above by Anna V - "Many people think of climate change as just aeroplanes and using fossil fuels but cars driving everyday emit a lot of carbon. I wanted to raise awareness to try and walk or cycle instead of driving cars and leaving the scars on the world."

Above by Marysia W - "The theme behind my piece is the fact that some adults are so caught up in the idea of a perfect economy that they aren't thinking about the impacts of Climate Change on the world and are leading the train of life of the climate change cliff. The nature on the left side of the poster and the bare tree on the right that the train is heading towards symbolises that we are getting further and further away from being able to turn back and fix our mistakes until it will be too late and there will be no Turning back (the cliff)."
