From 1 February, Lunar New Year is celebrated around the world, this year marking the beginning of the Year of the Tiger.

To celebrate, students decorated the school and handed out red pockets with inspiring quotes and gold (chocolate) coins inside. Mandarin Teacher Mrs Fang led our assembly, alongside students of Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean heritage, who spoke about their fascinating traditions such as putting on feasts, spending time with family, wearing special clothes and playing traditional games.

There have been a number of activities that students were invited to across the week, from a calligraphy workshop, to learning about the Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing), to raising money for Solace Charity via a hugely popular bubble tea stall (well done Year 9!), a special themed lunch prepared by our caterers, and much more.

Meanwhile in the Juniors, we spotted the Reception girls learning how to make their own dumplings, dress up in traditional clothing, colour in and draw tigers, and listen to parents tell the story of Lunar New Year.

We hope you have had a wonderful week!
