Senior Art & Design

On Thursday 22 June 2022, we celebrated the achievements of this year's GCSE and A Level Art and Design students.

It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents, students and staff coming to admire the work. The shows were based in two different areas of school, with the GCSE show was shown in the library. They produced some excellent work exploring a range of media such as drypoint printing, screen printing and modroc. The A Level show at the top of the STEAM tower showed the individual interests and passions of the students from politics, feminism, the natural world, memory, anatomy to name a few. The resourcefulness of the students was evident in many ways including underwater photography and ordering pigeons online to dissect. Their outcomes were diverse and extremely skillful, with the development of the ideas clearly explained in their sketchbook.

We look forward to sharing images of their beautiful work when exam regulations allow later in the year. It was wonderful to also have live music during the private viewing up in the STEAM tower, with an informal concert from Canto, String Quartet A, Clarinet Choir, String Quartet B and Close Harmony Singers. Well done to all those involved in the Art and the Music. And it being the STEAM tower, on the floor below there 'just happened' to be the Key Stage 3 Science fair taking place too. Simply wonderful.
