We are pleased to share that last month, a small team of Year 13 students, Sabrina, Ece and Jiwan, represented Wimbledon High as finalists of the Imperial College London Science at Heart and Lung School Teams Prize 2022.

They were among students from ten other schools who had also made the final - all had to give presentations as part of the competition. Our students prepared a presentation to pitch their ideas to a panel made up of doctors and academics; their topic was on the "Personalisation of coronary artery stents using stemcell bioprinting". They spoke about the relevance of the problem that has been identified to heart and circulatory health; explored the suitability of the scientific approach to providing the solution; shared how feasible their proposal is, and gave insight into the affordability of their proposed solution.

"Though Wimbledon High didn't win this time, there was strong competition and getting to the finals was itself such an achievement," Dr Seetharaman, WHS Scientist in Residence, commented.

See their poster below - well done to all involved!
