The aim of the GDST LEAD Programme (Leadership Enterprise Advanced Diploma), run in partnership with LSE Generate (the entrepreneurial arm of the London School of Economics and Political Sciences) is to encourage Sixth Form students to create real change for the future.

Students are tasked with setting up an entrepreneurial initiative, conceiving a sustainable product or service, with proceeds going to their chosen charity. The scheme offers mentorship - our students were advised by Nathania Aritao, entrepreneur, artist and social justice advocate, as well as Cathy Walker, Head of Education Development at GDST.

On the 27th March, Wimbledon High’s LEAD team WimbleWalk presented at the Final Showcase event at LSE attended by over 200 students and staff from 16 GDST schools.

The judges were very impressed by both the idea and presentation, describing the latter as brilliant, dynamic and engaging. The team was also praised on how closely linked their idea is to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as it looked to encourage walking to school in the form of a proposed 'walking bus' scheme for our Junior School students, led by sixth formers to strengthen vertical connections. Congratulations to everyone involved - students have learnt invaluable skills for the future, whatever their chosen path.
