Last week we held our September Second Hand Sale and it was a great success! The sales have become a termly event with students across the school donating pre-loved clothing that is sorted by the clothes swap team into price categories ahead of the sale. Last Wednesday the Senior Hall was buzzing with excitement as the sale took place, with lots of sustainable fashion gems being found all for under £7! It's always a joy in the subsequent days to see items of clothing recognised from the sale now being treasured by a new owner!

Last year's clothes swap raised a whopping £330 which was donated to the World Wildlife Fund for each year group to adopt an endangered animal for the year. This time around we raised £114 which will go to the Red Cross to send aid to those affected by the devastating floods in Libya.

The sale was a great way to celebrate Second Hand September as the eco-committee is encouraging students and staff to take part by challenging themselves to not buying anything new for the month. We hope that this can be continued through the year with more clothes swaps in the calendar so we can all continue to revel in the joys of sustainable fashion!

- Olivia, Year 13
