Senior Co-Curricular

As part of co-curricular activities, Sign Language Club was created for Year 7-9 students to learn this fantastic life skill and language.

"I learned because my aunt lived with us when I was growing up and she is deaf and mute and did not get the opportunity to learn sign language as she was born is Iraq. I also have a friend who is deaf and partially sighted. It was just something I always felt I should do. I’m so pleased the girls are enjoying it so much!" Mrs Justine Frost, Head of Swimming (and this club!)

Attendees such as Isabel C, Kara J-S, Elspie M and Lila H have now learned so much that they are able to tell you all about themselves, describe where they have been on holiday, and chat about food or shopping.

Over the past few months, the Year 7 Sign Language group have been learning to describe themselves, ask how someone is feeling, tell the time, the months of the year, talk about the weather, have a conversation about their hobbies... and sing a Christmas song. "I’m so pleased the girls are enjoying it so much!" added Mrs Frost.
