Sports Day 2023 was competitive, fun and a great display of house spirit - undoubtedly a complete success!

It seemed like the house t-shirt colours and face paint were brighter than usual, that the music was louder, and that more sprinters than ever before were feeling exhausted, not from the heat or speed of their efforts, but (perhaps) from the quantity of ice cream consumed!

Imogen, Sports Captain' s reflections of the day: 'I loved just how much fun everyone was having, not only competing, but also decorating the stands and cheering our houses on. But my favourite part has to be all of us year 12s performing our high school musical flash mob as surprise lunchtime entertainment!'

The level of leadership shown from our Year 12s, particularly our Sports Captain and our House Captains was impressive and it was lovely to see the support and guidance they showed younger year groups throughout the day. Seeing this collaboration and vertical connections between students in different year groups as they all supported their own house fiercely throughout the day was wonderful. This camaraderie was particularly apparent in the Squadron Relay, a relay where a member of Year 7 ,8, 9, 10 and 12, along with a member of staff complete a 6x100m relay; well done Arnold!

Whether it was the Year 12 egg and spoon, or athletes trying to break records (four of which were broken  – congratulations to Freia H-T and Nicole D for breaking the Year 7 1500m and High Jump respectively, and Simonna M-M for the Year 10 Hurdles and Long Jump), there were points up for the taking throughout the day keeping the competitive spirit alive. The PE Department were in their element!

The results couldn’t have been closer and the final score after all events, was only split by one point between the top two houses.

Congratulations to Scott on their 2023 Sports Day victory! Congratulations from Anna, Scott House Captain
"Scott are 2023 Champions 💛💛 I am so so proud of everyone who competed and it was the perfect start to my House Captain journey (a great start to our winning streak ;) To everyone, not only those in Scott, thank you for your incredible enthusiasm and amazing sporting achievements, you all made it such a fabulous day!”

And a final word from Poorna, our Head Girl ‘It was fabulous! There were dinosaurs and skipping ropes, but the best part was the sense of House Spirit that carried through the whole day!
