Y3 Visit to Kew House

Junior Year 03

Every Thursday afternoon, groups of Year 3 girls set off to Kew House, a residential care home local to Wimbledon High School. Each week the girls bring books, crosswords or a special item that they would like to chat to their new older friend about.

I am so proud of the girls as they spend time each week thinking about what activities the residents would like to do and chatting happily to the people there. The girls have shown great respect, kindness and care for these new friends. Last week the visit finished with a performance from the Y3 and 4 choir. The choir, consisting of over 60 students, sang in the gardens to the audience of residents. The song ‘You Are Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile’ rang out in the sunshine and was greeted with great applause. The smiles on the faces of everyone, girls and audience alike, was lovely to see. A resident, whom students have been making regular visits to, was unable to come to the performance, but five of the girls went upstairs to her room and performed an impromptu concert so that she would not miss out.

Well done girls for a great year. We look forward to restarting our visits to Kew House with the new Y3 girls in September.
