Surrey Netball Champions!

On Sunday 6th March, our Under 16 netball squad were crowned Surrey Champions!

The squad competed in the Surrey Netball finals at Croydon High School. They started the day well with convincing wins against Caterham and Surbiton. The third match saw them lose to Guildford High but with subsequent wins against JAGS and St George's, this was enough to see them through to the semi-finals. In a very close and tense match against St Catherine's, the squad held their nerve to win 7-6 and so move into the final.

The final saw them pitched against St John's. The opposition took an early three goal lead, however as the match progressed, the WHS squad grew in strength, confidence and belief. This combined with tight defence and clinical shooting saw them come out 11-8 winners and the U16 Surrey champions.

It is a massive first for Wimbledon High sport, the inscriptions on the cup date back to 1987 and this will be the first time Wimbledon High School will be inscribed on the cup as the champions.
