Occasional Vacancies

Occasional Vacancies

Outside of our usual entry points, places may arise in any other year group: Years 1-6 in the Junior School, or Years 8-10 in the Senior School. Admissions into these year groups are wholly dependent upon a space becoming available - for instance if a family moves out of the area and a pupil leaves the school.

We do not admit new pupils into Year 11 (GCSE year) or Year 13 (A Level year).

Junior School Occasional Vacancies

Please note: we do not have a formal 7+ entry point into Year 3

Vacancies may occasionally arise in Years 1 to 6. Please register on our Admissions+ platform (linked below) to complete an enquiry form, or contact Junior Admissions to discuss availability for a specific year group.

If a place becomes available in a year group, we invite all those who have made an enquiry for that year group to make a formal application and attend an assessment.

  • Years 1-2: girls will be invited to attend a one-to-one assessment with one of our teachers, covering literacy and numeracy.
  • Years 3-4: assessments will take place in a classroom setting, allowing girls to experience an “ordinary” morning at Wimbledon High Junior School. They will take part in a number of classes and an interactive group exercise. They will be assessed on how they respond in the classroom and how they perform in short subject-based tests.
  • Years 5-6: girls will be asked to complete Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning tests.

Senior School Occasional Vacancies

Whilst 11+ is our main entry point, for entry into Year 7, occasional vacancies may sometimes arise, as family circumstances change.

If you are interested in a place in Years 8, 9 or 10, please register on our Admissions+ platform (linked below) to complete an enquiry form, or contact Bronagh Preston, Head of Admissions, [email protected] to enquire about availability.

  • Our entrance assessment for Occasional Vacancies into Year 8, Year 9 or Year 10 consist of Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. Each paper lasts 45 mins and is set at an age appropriate level for the year of entry.
  • Candidates are then shortlisted for interview based on their performance in the assessments. Successful candidates will then be offered places or placed on a waiting list for when places become available.

Assessments would normally take place in the later part of the spring term.
