The Importance of Play

The Importance of Play

Play fuels the imagination, sparks creativity, and inspires a lifelong love of learning. It stimulates curiosity and wonder in the world around, but is also at the heart of social and emotional development. Children who play pick up all kinds of skills to thrive today – and lay the foundations for a happier, healthier life tomorrow.

Our Play Conference on 27 January 2023, for teachers and school leaders across the maintained and independent Primary, Junior, Prep and Nursery sector put the spotlight on Play and the Joy of Childhood. It was a fun and informative day of professional development, and featured key guest speakers:

  • Michael Rosen - Poet & Former Children’s Laureate
  • Nerys Hughes – Advanced Practitioner Paediatric Occupational Therapist
  • Prof Sam Wass –  Child Psychologist, Founder of BabyDevLab, Presenter of The Secret Life of Children
