On Friday 7 May, Year 8 students had a mufti day in support of their charity 'Girls not Brides'.
The theme was to wear one of the colours from the charity logo. Year 8 Charity Rep, Ava, explained why she and her peers feel this particular charity is so important:
"This is an organisation that aims to support girls who are forced into child marriage. One in 5 girls are forced into marriage before they are 18. This violates their human rights, makes them more likely to experience domestic violence and makes them likely to remain in school. Due to the pandemic, 13 million more girls will be married by 2030. It is important to support these girls and strive to do as much as we can for them."
