The atmosphere in the auditorium was nothing short of electric on Tuesday 7 March at Speak Up!
Year 6 finalists took to the floor to deliver their speeches in a display of exceptional public speaking prowess. All the girls exuded poise and confidence as they spoke up about the ideas, stories and perspectives that are important to them, covering topics including the utility of boredom, the stereotyping of young people and the shocking impact of captivity on wild animals.
The judges were thoroughly impressed with the depth and maturity with which our girls tackled these issues, and faced the daunting task of selecting the two speakers who will represent Wimbledon at the Grand Final. We extend our proudest congratulations to Lalita, Maia, Joselyn, Naiyali, Izzy, Olivia, Lucia, Jemima, Jessica and Krithika for their outstanding performances, and eagerly await the evening of the 28th March in which Lalita and Joselyn, the assembly winners, will give their speeches in the Rutherford and go head-to-head against 12 other speakers in front of an esteemed judging panel.
