A Masterclass and Duo Recital

Duo Recital Summary by Darcey Fryer-Bovill Y8

Last night, I felt very lucky to be part of the Duo Concert 2023. This concert wasn't very much like the other concerts that have taken place this year, as the accompanists were all students which gave us all a sense of pride and independence. There was beautiful music being played and sung and throughout the whole show with a variety of instruments, including ukeleles and violins. I also really liked the fact that it wasn't a competition, as it made it less nerve-racking, and I loved how supportive everyone was. There were quite a few other people in my year group, including my duet partner, who were part of the concert and I'm sure they would all agree of how wonderful the night was.

Tara Minton Masterclass with A Cappella – Tuesday 23^rd May

On Tuesday, Tara Minton (lead singer of the Blues and Roots Ensemble) visited WHS to deliver the first of two jazz vocal masterclasses to A Cappella. She impressed the students with her fantastic voice, and they thrived under her tuition, quickly learning tricky and crunchy jazz harmonies that will be used in the Blues and Roots concert later this term (tickets can be purchased HERE). We can’t wait for the second masterclass on Tuesday 30^th June at 5pm in the Auditorium, which is open to parents and staff to attend/participate! (Please fill in this form if you’d like to attend).

Upcoming Orchestral and Ensembles concert – 15^th June – 7pm - limited tickets!

On Thursday 15^th June, we host our orchestral and ensembles concert. Tickets are limited in capacity due to the DT and Art Exhibition, so be sure to book soon HERE to guarantee a ticket! The evening will include a wide range of groups and musical genres and will end with two uplifting pieces of film music, performed by Concert Orchestra.
