The Year 1 girls have been learning about human and animal parts of the body!

Earlier in the week, they had the exciting chance to meet pets as therapy dogs, brought in by Miss Kitchen; a tortoise, who was twice as old as them (and kept chasing them!) which belonged to Mrs Edwards in Year 1; some very fat larvae of Darkling Beetles (helped by Saskia, Year 10) and several young locusts who were busily hopping up and down.

Every week, the girls will be watching the progress of the larvae and locusts. They made good use of their magnifying glasses to spot tiny features like antennae and eyes on the bugs. Throughout the session, Daisy the dog was stroked a lot! and she and the tortoise are looking forward to coming back later in November to be studied by Year 4.
