It's been a busy week for our WHS Hockey Teams!

On 24 September the U15 team played brilliantly at the GDST Regional Tournament, where they came 2nd place. They then went on to win the first round of the Independent Schools' Cup yesterday against Highgate School.

Meanwhile, the U11 team attended the IAPS Regional Tournament which was hosted by St Edward's School in Oxford. There were 4 groups with 6 schools in each (24 schools overall). The team won all their group matches which meant they came first in the group, progressing through to the quarter-finals.

In this, they played against St Andrews Pangbourne winning 3-0. In the semi-finals against Dragons, we won 2-0, taking the team through to the final round against St Georges.

This was a very exciting match and the team dominated for the majority of the game until St Georges scored in the last minute meaning we went 1-0 down. Then, within the last 20 seconds, we scored to equalise in normal time. The match went into extra time where it was a golden goal situation. This meant that if you scored, the game would be over but St Georges had a very good goalkeeper to keep the game alive. 5 minutes was over and it went on to penalty kicks. WHS won 3-2 in these!

The girls showed a huge amount of determination and perseverance throughout the whole day. I am so incredibly proud of them and we're all excited to prepare for the National Finals on November 21 in Haileybury College.
