From 2-8 March, Wimbledon High Week of Women and Words returned - a brilliant celebration of the proximity of International Women's Day and World Book Day across the week.

This year, our theme was on Louisa May Alcott's classic novel, Little Women. To start the week off, during assembly this year's Reading Challenge was launched, a chance for students to collect stamps and house points for every book they read by the end of June; huge thanks to Sixth Form and Alumnae who contributed to the reading list! On the same day, Year 8 and 9 were joined by Clare Canavan, the librarian of HMP Downview Prison, who gave an inspiring talk (read here).

There were fantastic Little Women themed costumes spotted around school on World Book Day itself, along with many other brilliant entries for the WBD costume competition. Students were invited to re-read Little Women and join the Big Book Group to explore the novel (see photo on Twitter), such as whether or not the 2019 film did the novel justice - what are your thoughts?

On International Women's Day itself, our annual Mad4Padz took place in the Senior Hall. All donations will be going towards Ukranian refugees. Thanks to everyone who took part!
