Whole School STEAM

This week at WHS, we celebrated British Science Week with great enthusiasm.

Our science-filled assembly on Monday morning, led by the incredible Y12 science week team, kicked off the celebrations with an exciting array of different practicals, quite literally starting off with a bang. Throughout the week, we continued with a variety of activities and clubs tailored to developing our students' scientific connections which was the theme of this science week, highlighting our STEAM+ approach at Wimbledon High.

Our inboxes were filled with daily science-themed emails, including suggested articles and information about under-the-radar women in STEM. The launch of different competitions saw students from across the school getting involved, such as the Atherton Award and a science themed baking competition.

However, the highlight for many has been the addition of our new and fluffy Wimbledonians - 10 adorable chicks that are attracting students from far and wide to observe their cuteness in Biology. If you are not able to make the journey, there is a livestream on Firefly that you can access from anywhere https://whs.fireflycloud.net/science/hatch-stream . The chicks are bringing heaps of joy to the WHS community and are the perfect way to welcome us into spring.

Although this week has been packed with everything science related, of course here at WHS we pride ourselves in every week being science-filled!
