We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded Microsoft Showcase School status for the seventh year in a row. This is a prestigious achievement as we are one of only 81 schools in the United Kingdom to have attained this status.

Microsoft Showcase Schools are part of a global community of schools that have “have embraced technology as a catalyst for positive change, weaving it into the fabric of their educational programs to enhance student engagement, collaboration, and achievement” (Microsoft, 2023, full article available to read here). As a Microsoft Showcase School, we have the chance to work directly with Microsoft Education on topics such as generative AI for education and to forge connections with other schools across the world.

At WHS, we use technology to enhance student learning through the use of apps such as Teams, OneNote and Flip, which enable collaboration and provide the means for students to personalise their own learning experience, and for their teachers to ensure that all voices are heard.

Head Fionnuala Kennedy says: “As a pioneering and innovative school, with an emphasis on playful scholarship, we're committed above all else to stimulating our students' intellectual curiosity. Central to this is our innovative use of technology, including AI, as we look to develop the skills which will serve our students well in a rapidly changing world of work and study.”
